MELVIN R. FOWBLE
1927 - 2007


Melvin R. Fowble, Cushing resident and former employee of Central Rural Electric, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2007 in his home at the age of 80 years.
The son of the late Oscar H. Fowble and Clara F. Whitham Fowble, Melvin was born on April 16, 1927 in Tryon, Oklahoma where he was reared and educated.
Melvin entered the United States Army in 1945, serving in the Army Infantry during World War II.
He had worked for the Central Rural Electric Company for 40 years, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of the Tryon Baptist Church; a member of the American Legion and VFW; he enjoyed drinking coffee, fishing and watching western movies.
Melvin was united in marriage to Dora Vondia Fisk on October 19, 1979 in the Park Place Baptist Church, Cushing.
Survivors include his wife Dora Vondia of the home; two daughters, Connie Fowble of Stillwater; and Linda Thompson and her husband Jim of Riverside, California; three sons, Carl Fowble and his wife Tina of Perkins; Randy Fowble and his wife Renee of Owasso; and Eric Fowble and his wife Danna of Norman; one brother, Jimmy Fowble of Agra; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home with Reverend Marvin Skinner officiating.
Serving as casket bearers will be Richie Fowble, Jim Randell, Bill Jones, Chuck Liebenau, Jerald Johnson, Michael Skinner, Mark Skinner, Lonnie McKinzie, Eddie Osborn, Bob Stephens, John Malarnee, Jim Lumnick and Paul Rodman.
Burial will follow in the Clarkston Cemetery in Coyle.
The family will greet friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center, east of the funeral home.
