CLARA BIRD EDWARDS
1900 - 1988


Clara Bird Edwards, age 87 of Shawnee, died Saturday, March 19, 1988 in Shawnee Medical Center.
Mrs. Edwards was born at Greenfield, Missouri, November 12, 1900.
She attended schools at Buck and Center near McLoud, Oklahoma.
She worked for the telephone company in Earlsboro, Maud and Ada, then moved to Oklahoma City. Mrs. Edwards retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone company in 1965 as a long distance operator supervisor.
She married David Edwards February 14, 1922. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1980.
Also preceded in death by a son, Lt. Edward Watson, during World War II and a sister, Jessie Haley, in 1938.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of McLoud, Gold Star Mother's Auxiliary in McLoud, McLoud Quilting Club and Southwestern Bell Pioneers.
Survivors include six nieces and six nephews as well as many friends.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, United Methodist Church in McLoud. Officiating the services will be Rev. Doug Burr and Rev. John Corbin.
Burial will be in Jamison Cemetery.
Directed by Roesch Funeral Chapel of Shawnee, Oklahoma.
