Ted Edwin Driggs, Tryon resident, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 in the Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 87 years.

The son of the late William Walter Driggs and Ida Leora Bailey Driggs, Ted was born on April 20, 1924 in Cushing where he was also reared and educated, graduating from Cushing High School in 1943.

He was united in marriage to Frances Annie Hindorff on March 11, 1944 in Yuma, Arizona. To this union four children, David, Anthony, Jane and Teddie, were born.

Ted was an avid gardener and sportsman. He enjoyed fishing, painting, fixing people’s houses and making furniture, tables, benches, etc. He also loved to dance and sing.

Survivors include his wife of over 67 years, Frances, of the home; four children, David Lee Driggs of Richcrest, California; Anthony Edwin Driggs of Gold Run, California; Jane Ellen Driggs Johnson of Newkirk, Oklahoma; and Teddie Anne Stueber of Tryon; eleven grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; one sister, Wilda Mae Cresswell of Cushing; one brother, Billie Joe Driggs of Grove; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by one grandson, Charles Ledbetter.

Private family services will be held at a later time.
