1944 - 2007
Synthia “Ann” Walters Doak, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on May 1, 2007 in Cushing at the age of 62 years.The daughter of the late Noble Walters and Beatrice Davis Walters, Ann was born on July 18, 1944 in Cushing.Ann was united in marriage to Jerry C. Doak on April 11, 1964 in Bristow, Oklahoma.She had worked as a nurses aid at the Pioneer Nursing Home in Chandler for several years.Ann enjoyed working with ceramics, gardening, fishing, and making things for her grandchildren.Survivors include her husband of over 43 years, Jerry; two sons, Steve Ward and his wife Shirley; and Jerry Doak, Jr. and his wife Laurie; all of Cushing; one step-daughter, Lisa Ward of Coweta, Oklahoma; two sisters, Peggy Inskeep of Branson, Missouri; and Carolyn Vassar of Cushing; two brothers, Jim Walters of Agra; and Jackie Walters of Cushing; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, and many friends.In addition to her parents, two brothers, Guy Walters and Raymond Walters preceded Ann in death.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2007 in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Cushing, Oklahoma with Brother Tony Imry officiating.Burial will follow in the Tryon Cemetery, Tryon, Oklahoma.The Doak family requests that in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to the Judith Karman Hospice.
