EDWIN A. DETHLOFF
1925 - 2007


Longtime Cushing resident, Edwin A. Dethloff, age 81, passed away on Sunday morning, July 22, 2007 at his home in Cushing.
Edwin was born on November 12, 1925 in Cushing to John and Alice Dorl Dethloff.
He grew up in Cushing and graduated from Cushing High School in 1944.
He married LuElla Shaull on April 28, 1953 in Wichita, Kansas.
Eddie was a Veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean War. After returning from service, Eddie began working in the oilfield and retired from Appleton Oil Company in 1985.
He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
They traveled on many family vacations while their children were growing up. He loved the outdoors, especially when there was an opportunity to fish.
Eddie enjoyed listening to Blue Grass Music and would often travel to hear good music. He liked to play cards and dominoes.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren, every spring break they would take the grandchildren on a trip. Eddie also learned the art of making “Apple Pies”. He enjoyed sharing these pies with others.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 54 years, LuElla Dethloff of the home; son, Barry Dethloff and wife, Carmen of Moore; daughters, Teresa Barrett and husband, Ernest of Avery; Jane Miller and husband, Grant of Stroud; brothers, George Dethloff of Cushing; Wayne Dethloff and wife, Shirley of Cushing; Leroy Dethloff of Sugarland, Texas; sister, Mildred Shaull and husband, Donald of Pryor; grandchildren, Dustin Miller and wife, Jae; Kevin Barrett, Misti Dethloff, Brandon Woodham and Amelia Dethloff; and great granddaughter Zoey Gilmore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leon Dethloff and two infant children.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Interment will follow at the Avery Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.
