THOMAS C. DAVIS, JR.
1920 - 2009


Thomas C. Davis, Jr., passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the Oklahoma Methodist Manor in Tulsa at the age of 88 years.
The son of the late Thomas C. Davis and Mildred Brient Davis, Tom was born on August 21, 1920 in San Antonio, Texas and was reared and educated in Brownsville, Texas, graduating from Brownsville High School. He attended the University of Texas, receiving a bachelor degree in engineering.
Tom enlisted in the United States Army in May of 1941 and served his country overseas from February 1943 to February 1946, before his honorable discharge.
He was united in marriage to Nellie Sunderland in 1946 and she preceded him in death in August of 1964. He married Helen Louise Mullen in January of 1965.
Tom was a member of the Boston Avenue Methodist Church. He was very dedicated to the clubs and organizations he was involved in; he was a member of the ASQC; the Engineers Club; Tulsa Fly Fishers; United States Power Squadron and served on the administrative board for Salvation Army Boys Club. Tom considered his volunteerism a hobby and would be embarrassed for the recognition.
He enjoyed boating, fishing, fly fishing, fly tying, repairing electronics and enjoyed teaching water safety boating classes. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will remember him as the World’s Greatest Grandpa.
Survivors include his wife, Louise, of the home; two sons, Rodney Davis and his wife Janene of Norman; and James Mullen and his wife Janet of Highland, North Carolina; four grandsons and four granddaughters; four great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; one sister, Mildred Giovannetti of Eureka, California; and other relatives and friends, including loving care given by all employees of Oklahoma Methodist Manor and Sylvia, Mary, Kesha and Belinda, Home Health Aids.
Tom was preceded in death by one brother, Wesley Davis and one sister, Muriel Roundtree.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 16, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Osage Cemetery with Reverend Charles Herndon, Chaplain with Oklahoma Methodist Manor, officiating.
