RAYMOND OSCAR DAVIS
1928 - 2011


Raymond Oscar Davis, 82, of Perkins, Oklahoma joined his heavenly Father on Sunday, March 27, 2011.
Born November 12, 1928 to Edwin O. and Bernice A. Hardy Davis, he was the second oldest of nine children.
Raymond attended Springhill Country School in the Perkins area and later went to work with his father on the railroad. He enlisted in the military and served in the Korean War with the 45th infantry.
After serving his country, he returned to the Perkins area where he met and married Lucille Wiggs. This union was blessed with three children, Rodger Davis and wife Linda of Shawnee, Sharon Kindell and husband Gary of Fairbanks, Alaska and LaDonna Taylor and family of Ripley.
Raymond and Lucille were later divorced.
Raymond moved to Wichita, Kansas where he worked for Bray Truck Lines, earning many safety awards.
He met and married Barbara Mobley in September of 1976. They lived in Wichita for several years before returning to Perkins, where he was employed with Chris' Casing Crews. He then went to work for Payne County road maintenance, from which he later retired.
After retirement, Raymond was anything but idle. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending many hours in his wood shop building lawn furniture, wishing wells and tables. He also had a great appreciation of music and loved to dance.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ella Marie McKinney, brother, Jetty L. Davis, stepson, Bobby G. Mobley and wife, Barbara L. Davis.
Raymond is survived by his children, Rodger Davis and wife Linda of Shawnee, Sharon Kindell and husband Gary of Fairbanks, Alaska and LaDonna Taylor and family of Ripley.
He is also survived by his sisters; Bertha Pricer, Edith Crestinger, Pat Davis and Lydia Kirkendall, his brothers; Walter and Jim Davis.
Also surviving are his stepchildren; Larry and Mike Mobely and Debbie McCutchen, as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many dear friends.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Perkins, Oklahoma.
Interment will follow at the Carney Cemetery in Carney, Oklahoma.
