KATHRYN IRENE COOK
1929 - 2010
Kathryn Irene Cook, 81 of Edmond was born on May 18, 1929 and went home to be with the Lord on July 30, 2010.Kathryn and her husband, Jack, were the first couple married in the chapel of the First Christian Church of Edmond on November 27, 1947.Kathy's life was defined best by family. Whether they were immediate or extended, they were her true pride and joy. Holidays were a big deal to her because she could spend them with her family. From Easter to Christmas, Kathy always "went big", from presents to meals to decorating, holidays brought her much joy. She enjoyed cooking and nothing was prepared unless it was homemade.Kathy also loved to shop. If there was a sale, you would find her there regardless if it was a department store or garage sale. She also had many pastimes like reading, playing games with her children and grandchildren, and her many years with her Bunco group.She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Edmond for more than 60 years where she always kept her faith strong.She started her professional career at Citizen’s Bank where she was once held at gunpoint in a robbery and later worked at American Bank {which became Kirkpatrick Bank}.In 1974 Kathy and her husband, Jack, opened Cook’s Hardware and operated it for 20 years in the Bryant Square Shopping Center until they retired.Kathy is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years, Jack; son, Clayton and wife Sharilyn; daughter, Vicki Likes and husband Merrill; four grandchildren, Michelle Glynn and husband Joe, Kassi Colvin and husband Billy, Clashar Mooy and husband Jason, and Shawna Cook; and one great-grandson, Brady Glynn.She also leaves behind one sister, Lucy Moseley and husband Bill, and two brothers, Charles Cook "Podie" and Dudley Cook, along with extended family and many loving friends.The family will receive friends during a come and go reception honoring Kathy from 4:00 -6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 1st at Crawford Family Funeral Service in Edmond.Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 2nd at First United Methodist Church in Edmond with interment to follow at New Zion Cemetery east of Chandler.Published August 5, 2010.
