NINA ELSIE CHRISP
1919 - 2008
Nina Elsie Tipton Chrisp, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 in Cushing, OK at the age of 88 years.The daughter of the late Robert Burton Tipton and Agness Jane Schoonover Tipton, Elsie was born on December 15, 1919 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.She was united in marriage to Leonard Chrisp on September 3, 1939 in Davenport, Oklahoma and to this union three children, Clifford, Leon, and James, were born.The Chrisp’s moved to Cushing in 1945 where they have lived ever since.Elsie was a member of the First Church of God in Cushing and had been a member of the local V.F.W. Auxiliary.When she was able, Elsie enjoyed shopping for antiques, working in the yard, sewing, reading, and working jigsaw puzzles.Survivors include two sons, James “Jim” Chrisp and his wife Marcy of Cushing; and Leon Chrisp of Cushing; ten grandchildren, Anthony Allen Chrisp, Shari Darlene Tuttle, Brenda Lynn Prothe, Bryan McKinnley, Sheridan Mittel, Krystle Chrisp, Kathrynn Chrisp, Dyllon Chrisp, Tevin Chrisp, and Zachary Chrisp; eight great-grandchildren, Clayton Chrisp, Adam Tuttle, Courtney Clark, James Darren Chrisp, Madison Chrisp, Johnathan Chrisp, Brooklynn Prothe, and Brayden Prothe; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Leonard; one son, Clifford Neal Chrisp; two sisters; and two brothers.Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2008 in the First Church of God, Cushing, Oklahoma with Pastor Kevin Clouse officiating.Burial will follow in the Kendrick Cemetery, Kendrick, Oklahoma.
