LELAND GLYNN CHANDLER
1914 - 1998
Lifelong Wellston area resident Leland Glynn "Pappy" Chandler died Wednesday in Chandler at the age of 83.Mr. Chandler was born June 26, 1914, in Chandler, to Guy F. and Hazel Crawford Chandler.He married Ruth Graham on March 14, 1936, in Stillwater.He was employed as a butcher and grocer in the Wellston and McLoud areas.He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Wellston and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.Survivors include his wife, Ruth Chandler of the home; a son, Don Chandler of Newport, Tennessee; a daugther, Joy Robertson of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Carl Chandler of Norman; Earl Chandler of Denver, Colorado; John Chandler of Shawnee; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons and three brothers.Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Wellston with the Rev. Kay Shock officiating.Burial will be at Wellston Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.Published June 5, 1998.
