PAUL WESLEY CARPENTER
1924 - 2013
Paul Wesley Carpenter, a former Sulphur businessman, now of Lakeland, Florida, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013, at his home, at the age of 89 years.The son of the late Elmer P. Carpenter and Alta May Barth Carpenter, Paul was born on March 13, 1924 in Cushing, Oklahoma and was raised and educated in Agra, graduating from Agra High School.He was united in marriage to Alma Cranke on March 20, 1942 and to this union two children, Gary and Karen were born.While living in Sulphur the Carpenter’s owned and operated Paul’s Produce and Carpenter Egg Company, serving the Southern part of Oklahoma. The couple moved to Florida in 2005, and had lived there since that time.He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sulphur; he was a veteran of the United States Army, and was a recipient of a Bronze Star and the Purple Heart, where he was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge on January 5, 1945. He was also a member of the American Legion and the D.A.V.He enjoyed fishing, working in his work shop and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.Survivors include his wife of over 69 years, Alma Cranke of the home; one son, Gary Carpenter and his wife, Melinda of Sulphur; one daughter, Karen Carpenter of Lakeland, Florida; five grandchildren and other relatives and friends.Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to your favorite charity.Services under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Cushing, Oklahoma.
