Graveside services were held Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at New Zion Cemetery with Rev. Keith Burkhart officiating for Bernice Clarkson Cansler of Chandler. Services were under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler.Bernice was born June 13, 1925 in Chandler to Joe H. and Mabel Ruth Kalka Clarkson and died Saturday, September 13, 2003 at the age of 78.She graduated from Davenport High School in the class of 1943 and also attended Oklahoma A&M.She married James W. "Jimmy" Cansler in Chandler on March 26, 1948.She was past president of the Oklahoma Chrysanthemum Society and held various positions with the national chapter as well as the Oklahoma City Chapter.She was a member of the First Baptist Church and currently a member of the Village Baptist Church homebound class.Her parents, husband, one sister and an infant brother preceded her in death.Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Carroll and Pauline Clarkson of Chandler; one sister and brother-in-law, Jo & Charles Jenkins of Rockwall, Texas; brothers-in-law, Bill Kerr of Midwest City; Jean Charles Cansler of Pikesville, Kentucky; seven nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
