ALICE FAYE BROWN
1938 - 2014


A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Stroud for former longtime Stroud resident, Alice Faye Weaver Brown.
She died Friday, July 25, 2014 in Owasso, Oklahoma.
The service will be officiated by former First Baptist Church pastor, Rev. Jim White. Burial will follow in Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Stroud.
She was born in Bristow, Oklahoma on February 10, 1938 to Tom and Fay Allee Weaver.
She married Billy F. Brown on Feb. 27, 1956 in Bristow.
Mr. and Mrs. Brown published the Stroud American newspaper from July 1973 until his retirement in August 2000. He preceded her in death in April 2010.
Mrs. Brown was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church where she served in various capacities, including Sunday School teacher in the youth and children’s departments, nursery director and choir member.
She served several years on the Stroud Public Library board of directors, and was a recipient of the Stroud Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award. In March 1993, the Oklahoma Heritage Association presented its ‘Distinguished Editorial Award’ to the Stroud American in recognition of her series of articles featuring town founder, J. W. Stroud, and published in conjunction with the community’s centennial celebration held in the fall of 1992.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and other family members.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Dave McCullough of Owasso, Oklahoma, one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Alicia Brown of Stroud; one grandson, Chris Norton and wife Amita of Kingsland, Georgia, three granddaughters, Kirsten McCullough of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Misty Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Tiffany Brown of Ponca City, Oklahoma and two great-grandchildren, Devon and Caerdwean “Tu Tu” Norton of Kingsland, Georgia. She is also survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Naomi and Gary Lindroos of Sierra Vista, Arizona, two brothers and sisters- in-law, Joe and Patsy Weaver of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Tommy and Sheila Weaver of Eufaula, Oklahoma, and other relatives and friends.
