MARVIN N. BROOKS
1924 - 2007


Marvin N. Brooks, age 82 of Tryon, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 28, 2007. Marvin was born on July 12, 1924 in Chandler, Oklahoma to Albert F. and Birdie Moore Brooks.
He grew up in Chandler and attended Wellston schools. He graduated from Wellston High School in 1942.
He was inducted into the U. S. Army three days after graduation from high school. He served his country during World War II. Marvin returned home from service and began working for Gibble gas.
He worked 5 years before he married Helen Reedy on December 13, 1952 in her parents home near Parkland.
He soon began his career for Sohio Oil Company. He started working on the rigs and made his way up the ladder to production foreman, working for 38 years, retiring in 1985.
Marvin loved to study the Lord’s word, he also was a minister with the Church of the Firstborn.
They lived in the Deer Creek area while their children were growing up. He served on the Deer Creek school board for 5 years. They moved to the Tryon area in 1996, where he enjoyed raising and watching cattle. They liked to travel, and enjoyed a family cruise a few years back. He loved spending time with his family.
Marvin thought anything could be fixed with bailing wire or duct tape.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen Brooks of the home; daughters Marla Albright and husband Edwin of Tryon; Crystl Percell of Cushing; Keli Smith and husband Robert of Mannford; brothers Edgar Brooks and wife Dorothy of Tyler, Texas; and Eldridge Wayne Brooks and wife Genora of Midwest City; sisters Betty Mae Pound of Cushing and Lois Kanady of Cushing; grandchildren Travis Percell and wife Nikki; twins Caleb and Tanner Percell; Haley Machetta and husband Joe; Gavin Albright, Cory Smith and Cale Smith, Clay Holsinger and Brittni Holsinger; great grandchildren Abby and Logan Machetta and Carter Percell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Tami Holsinger, his son-in-law Gary Percell, brothers Alfred and Wilbur and his sisters Margie and Ardie.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Thursday at the Church of the Firstborn in Tryon, Oklahoma.
Brother Robert Smith and Brother Ed Albright will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing. Serving as casketbearers are grandchildren: Travis Percell, Caleb Percell, Tanner Percell, Gavin Albright, and Cory Smith. Serving as honorary casketbearer will be grandson: Cale Smith.
Interment will follow at the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma.
