BARBARA JEAN BRITTON
1938 - 2014

Barbara Jean Combs Britton, 75 of Agra passed from this life, Tuesday April 8, 2014 at her home.
She was born August 21, 1938 to Orgel and Nerene Moss Combs in Cushing. When Barbara was six years old her dad was killed in the World War II Battle of the Bulge in Germany. Barbara's mother did not remarry until after her children were adults.
Barbara was raised in Cushing and graduated from Cushing High School in 1956.
She met Fred Britton, the love of her life, in 1954. They were married October 5, 1956 at her mother's house in Cushing by Brother Bob Tibbett. Fred and Barbara were baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn on January 12, 1958. Barbara was very active in church, always trying to be a help to others.
Fred and Barbara owned a dairy and farmed for many years and then owned a trucking business. She helped in all of Fred's businesses, whether it was milking cows, driving a tractor or doing the bookkeeping. Barbara also raised a large garden and spent much time canning the fruits of her labor. Barbara was a wonderful mother that was always home when her children arrived from school, made home cooked meals, and even sewed dresses for her daughters.
Fred and Barbara traveled with their children on many trips to visit brethren, and had friends across the country. One memorable trip together was to Washington D.C. when they drove through the Appalachian Trail. The entire family celebrates all their birthdays together and every holiday with big dinners, games and lots of laughs and stories. Wonderful memories made by a loving family.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband Fred; son Kent Britton of Parkland; daughters Karena Sarber and husband Terry of Morgantown, Indiana; and Tara Wittman and husband Joey of Agra; eight grandchildren, Aaron and Nathan Britton, Stephanie Toles, Tiffany Newport, Tyler Penrod, Sasha Dowdy, and Isaiah and Hailey Wittman; three great-grandchildren Landon and Quinn Toles and Kayleigh Britton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Gary Combs.
Services will be held Saturday April 12, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Parkland General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. Brothers Randal Wright, Jack Fick Jr. and Colin Martin will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Parkland Cemetery.
Family will greet friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening.
Services have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.
