Gerald Dean Bradley, 71, of Tucson, Arizona, died Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Tucson Medical Center.

Gerald was born on March 9, 1938 in Avery, Oklahoma to Charles and Martha Bradley.

He grew up on a farm in the Cushing area and attended Cushing High School where he was very active in FFA. His senior year he was awarded FFA’s highest chapter honor, the Junior Master Farmer degree. His Vo-Ag teacher, Harold Williams, was a great friend and influence on Gerald his entire life. Gerald graduated in 1956.

After successfully completing a program by the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services where he learned to operate state owned snack bars, he moved to Claremore where he operated the snack bar at the Claremore Indian Hospital and then to Tulsa, operating the snack bar at the Tulsa County Court House.

On June 6, 1970, Gerald married Jeanette Cowan and adopted her sons. In 1973 they had a daughter.

In 1974 he opened his own store, Moe’s Gift and Snack Shop, in the downtown Tulsa Holiday Inn.

Gerald was an active member and former president of the Tulsa Chapter of the Oklahoma Council for the Blind.

While living in Tulsa, Gerald and Jeanette were active members of Our Savior Lutheran Church and officers of the local chapter of the Aid Association for Lutherans. Gerald was also a board member for the school at Our Savior.

In 1994, Gerald and Jeanette retired to Tucson, Arizona and attended Santa Cruz Lutheran Church.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 38 years; and brother Michael W. Bradley.

He is survived by his children, Darrell Bradley, Tucson, Arizona; Michael S. Bradley and wife Janna, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Cindy Diaz and husband Jerry, Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren Stephanie Brooks and husband Damon, Norman, Oklahoma; Christopher Bradley and wife Allison, Rogers, Arkansas; Jeffrey Bradley and wife Stephanie, Norman, Oklahoma; Heidi and Quinn DeDanaan, Tucson, Arizona; seven great grandchildren, Zachary, Ethan and Aaron Brooks of Norman; Lucy and Amelia Bradley of Rogers; and Preston and Mikayla Bradley of Norman; other survivors include sisters Pat Coyner, Cushing, Oklahoma; Norma Jean Sappington, Catoosa, Oklahoma; and brother, Dr. Charles E. Bradley of Houston, Texas and many, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer with Reverend Mark Duer, pastor, officiating.

Serving as casketbearers will be Darrell Bradley, Michael Bradley, Woody Coyner, Brad Coyner, Damon Brooks and Jimmie Dee Cook.

Burial will follow in the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer Cemetery, southwest of Cushing.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home.
