1937 - 2006
Walter Otis Bernard, age 69 of Cushing, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at the Cushing Regional Hospital.He was born on May 30, 1937 in Cushing to Carl and Bessie Skinner Bernard.He grew up in Cushing and attended Cushing schools.Walter married Betty Wood on May 14, 1956 in Cushing. They lived in Cushing all of their lives. He worked as a truck driver with A & R Trucking, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Teamster’s Union.He loved the Lord and was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly of God.While the children were growing up, they enjoyed many trips to Phoenix, Arizona as a family. Walter loved to build trailers and repair lawnmowers. He loved his family and especially his great grandchildren.Walter is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Bernard of the home; children Alice Marie Mullins and husband Terry of Sapulpa; James Otis Bernard and wife Joann of Cushing; Linda Sue McCarty and husband Bill of Cushing; Johnny Carl Bernard and wife Susanne of Choctaw; brothers Glen Bernard and wife Sherrie of Oakridge, Oregon; Earl Bernard of Oakridge, Oregon; and sister Carol Brewer of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren Crissy Pamperl, Stephanie Kelly, Shaun Morris, Miranda McNeal, Jacob Mullins and Derek Bernard; great grandchildren Logan, Destiny and Kaylee Morris, Tyler, Kaitlynne an Joshua Kelly, Alex McNeal, Addie Pamperl.He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Truman King, sister Alice Marie Eyler, Uncle and Aunt James and Sue Skinner.Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Wednesday November 1, 2006 at the Full Gospel Assembly of God, Cushing.Pastor Larry Huff will officiate.Interment will follow at the Flynn Cemetery.Serving as casketbearers will be friend – Jack Jones, grandsons – Shaun Morris, Jacob Mullins, Derek Bernard, Matt McNeal and Todd Pamperl.Arrangements under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.Condolences and online guest book are available at Palmarlerfh.com.
