LEON ACORD
1924 - 2015
Leon Acord, long-time Chandler, Oklahoma, resident was born on August 5, 1924, in Clarksville, Arkansas, and departed this life on June 16, 2015, in Edmond, Oklahoma, at the age of 90 years.Leon was the son of John Hartle and Anna Elizabeth Sexton Acord.He married Emma Louise Edmonson, July 15, 1944, in Chandler.Leon owned and operated Acord Transportation in Chandler for many years.His parents, wife, and one sister, preceded Leon in death.Survivors include, four sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Pat Acord of Chandler, John and Jeanie Acord of Chandler, Tom and Debbie Acord of Chandler, and Joe and Cindy Acord of Chandler; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lou Ann and Jerry Sukovaty of Davenport, Oklahoma, and Carolyn Sue and Bill Shelton of Chandler; one sister, Wanda Acord-Morris of Houston, Texas; nineteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; special care givers, Kerie Matlock, Mary McDonald, Connie Birdsong, and Janice Miller; other relatives and many friends.Memorials may be made to Davenport First Baptist Church Building Fund, 123 Cleason Ave., Davenport, Oklahoma, 74026.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 19, 2015, at Davenport First Baptist Church, Davenport, Oklahoma, with Rev. Mike Mitchell officiating.Burial will follow at New Zion Cemetery.Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
