Laura Waunita Williams was born to Kirby Williams and Carrie Connor Williams on March 21, 1921 in Chandler, Oklahoma. She departed this life on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the age of 98.
Waunita was united in marriage to Lawrence Glendon Williams on November 13, 1937. To this union were born 3 daughters; Carolyn, Glenda and Anita. She loved sewing for her daughters and later loved cooking for and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the Wellston Missionary Baptist Church.
Waunita was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Williams, parents Kirby and Carrie (Connor) Williams, stepmother Margie (Dye) Williams, daughter Carolyn Alexander Parker, granddaughter Amy Michelle Melrose, brother Melvin Williams, two sisters; Margaret Williams Moreland, Luveta Williams Tulley, and infant sister Esther Williams.
Waunita is survived by two daughters; Glenda Potts and husband Kent, Anita Melrose and husband Butch, son-in-law Jim Parker, Eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 29, 2019 at the Wellston Missionary Baptist Church officiated by Brother Dennis Osborne. A burial will follow at the Davenport Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Services in Chandler, Oklahoma.
