Lillie Ann Phelan was born on April 20, 1938 in Chandler, OK and passed on to her heavenly home on July 16, 2022 surrounded by her children. Lillie was the daughter of Valdy and Velma Hobbs of Chandler, OK.
In May of 1956, Lillie married Leonard Freeman Howard and they had 6 children; Kathy, Leonard, Elaine, Patricia, Jerry and Robert. Lillie later met and married Arthur Phelan on October 3, 1968. They had one son, Arthur Henry, during their 52 years of marriage.
Preceding Lillie in death are her parents Valdy and Velma Hobbs; sister Mary Ruth Foster; four brothers James, Joe, Willie and Norris Hobbs; three sons Leonard, Jerry and Robert Gene Howard; two grandchildren Sarah Marie Howard and Eddie Bowser; as well as four sisters-in-law Marie, Claudette, Jessie and Jo Ann Hobbs.
Survivors include daughters Kathy Holland and husband Terry of Meeker, Patricia Griffith and husband Steven of Prague, and Elaine Bowser of Stroud; son Arthur “Bo” Henry Phelan and wife Treva of Stroud; eleven grandchildren Teddy Goudeau, Kristin Ludi, Toby Shea Lyons, Leroy Bowser, Emily Banks, Tara Holland, Rachel Finch, Jeremy Goudeau, Edith Ann Bracken, Tabitha Phelan and Kadynce Phelan; twenty-five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
Lillie was called Ann by all that knew her. Ann loved going to family reunions and greeted everyone with a hug. Ann also had a passion to care for the elderly and enjoyed a 17 year career working at Pioneer Nursing Center in Chandler and Stroud Health Care Center. Ann relied on her strong faith in God. Her message to us now is “Please remember that I will always love each and every one of you. May God keep and guide you until we meet again.” Lillie Ann was loved for the beautiful person she was and will be deeply missed by all.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel officiated by Keith Cole. Burial to follow at Davenport Cemetery. Condolences may be offered online at www.parksbrothers.net. Care services are provided by Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Stroud, OK.
