Virginia (Tyson) Brunson, 74, of Chandler, formerly of Mesquite, Texas, passed from this life to join her Savior in the next, Saturday, July 9, 2022. A Celebration to honor her life and give glory to God will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at the Parks Brothers Funeral Service Chapel in Chandler. Burial will follow in the Davenport Cemetery. Her son Pastor Paul Brunson will officiate. Friends may greet the family Monday evening, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Virginia was born July 13, 1947, to James Earl and Agnes Cornelia (Scott) Tyson in Texarkana, Arkansas. She was reared and educated in the Texarkana area graduating high school in 1965. She later attended the University of Texas, Dallas, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology in 1993. She had moved to the Irving, Texas area where she met and later married Riley N. Brunson. The couple was married on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1967. The couple made their home in Irving for a short while and later moved to Mesquite, Texas.
Virginia was a child of God and a prayer warrior. She held tightly to her faith, her family and friends throughout her life. She loved to garden, crawdad fishing with her husband and sons; was a beautiful artist with oil paints but, could be found antiquing and thrift store shopping all over Texas. The couple moved from Mesquite where they attended the Calvary Baptist Church to Chandler in September of last year.
Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years Riley, Sr. of the home; sons Riley, Jr, and his wife Bethany Brunson of Mesquite, Pastor Paul and wife Gena Brunson of Chandler; a brother Jerry and wife Earline Tyson of Hope, Arkansas; sister-in-law Gale Tyson of Texarkana, Arkansas; brother and sister-in-law Ray and Liz Osteen; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother James Eual Tyson, Jr.
