1929 - 2012
Walter Lee Pantlik, 83, resident of Bartlesville, died Friday November 9, 2012 at his residence.He was born July 19, 1929 at Prague, Oklahoma to John and Julia Rubac Pantlik.Walter was raised and educated in Prague, graduating high school there in 1948.Mr. Pantlik entered the U.S. Army on March 2, 1949 and served as Tank Crewman of the 5th Armored Division in Korea. He received three Bronze Stars, Silver Star and the Korean Service Medal.He was married to Jean Rich on December 8, 1950 at Prague in the First Christian Church. They made their home in Prague and Shawnee area until moving to Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1954.Mr. Pantlik was employed with Haliburton Well Service for eleven years. He later began work as a Produce Manager for Foodtown, Safeway and BestYet grocery stores, retiring in 1986.Mr. and Mrs. Pantlik moved to Oklahoma City, living there for twenty years until moving back to Bartlesville in 2007.He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the V.F.W., the Western Fraternal Lodge and Bartlesville Art Association.Mr. Pantlik was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying and taking art classes from Ray Gunn and other art instructors.Survivors include his wife, Jean of the family home in Bartlesville; three daughters, Cathy Tennell of Bartlesville, Jan Russell of Ochelata and Linda Grissom and her husband Brad of Bartlesville; one son, Mike Pantlik and his wife Sandy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.Mr. Pantlik was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lillie Pantlik.Friends who wish may sign the online guest book and leave condolences at www.stumpff.org.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Vallandingham of Eastern Heights Baptist Church officiating.Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105.Interment will be in the Czech National Cemetery near Prague, Oklahoma at 3:30 p.m., directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
