GEORGIA ONDEREK MONTGOMERY
1936 - 2007


It's with great sadness that the families announce the passing of Georgia Onderek-Montgomery on Friday May 11, 2007 at the age of 71.
Born February 15, 1936 in Aqua Dulce, Texas, Georgia met and married her husband of 42 years, John Onderek on June 9, 1956.
They moved to Edmond in 1965 where they raised their family.
Georgia was a bookkeeper for the Oklahoma Christian Home for 27 years until 1998.
She was a genuine friend to many of the residents there. She often aided those who didn't have families by shopping, preparing papers, or even taking care of their personal needs.
Georgia was also very involved in the Oklahoma Czech community. She was involved in the initial Yukon Czech Festival, and served as the craft show coordinator for many years.
A tireless 'goer', she loved to travel any time she could.
Georgia met and married her husband of 6 years, Billy Montgomery on October 27, 2001. They resided in Edmond. They truly enjoyed traveling, especially with the Oklahoma Retired Citizens Travel Club.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John J. Onderek; her father, Frank Podest Sr.; her brother, Frankie Podest; her sister, Lily Breon and her brother, Frank Podest Jr.
Georgia will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Anna Podest of Prague and her husband Bill Montgomery of Edmond. She is also survived by her children, Georgia Steele of Oklahoma City; John {Debbie} Onderek of Kingsville, Texas, Janet {Donnie} Hughes of Frisco, Texas, Jackie Onderek of Edmond and Tom {Becky} Montgomery of Oklahoma City.
Georgia is also survived by her grandchildren Josh, Courtney, Troy, Jeremy, Kelsey, Kaylee, Chris, Heather, and her great-grandchildren Hayden and Courtney.
She is lovingly remembered by her brother and sisters, relatives and friends.
The wake service will be held on Monday, May 14, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly in Edmond.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in loving memory of Georgia on Tuesday, May 15 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church with Father Metzinger presiding.
The interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Czech National Cemetery in Prague, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Services are under the direction of the Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, Oklahoma.
