MARY ANN MARTIN-GEDDIS
1936 - 2010

Mary Ann Onderek Martin - Geddis passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at Baptist Integris Hospital in OKC.
She was born February 4, 1936, in Prague, Oklahoma to John and Mary Rose Spaniel Onderek.
She spent her early childhood in Prague surrounded by her extended Czech family. When she was 10 years old, the family moved to California, and settled in Marysville. She graduated from Marysville High School and then moved back to Oklahoma City to attend nursing school at St. Anthony's Hospital.
While in nursing school, she met and married her husband Elmer Lee Martin. They were married 36 years and lived most of that time in Bethany.
Mary worked at Bone and Joint Hospital, during her forty year nursing career. At the time of her retirement she was the Director in charge of infection control. She enjoyed her career and was always willing to help others in need.
She was voted Woman of the Year for the Oklahoma Arthritis Foundation.
After Elmer passed away, Mary retired and spent time with her family while assuming fulltime care of her invalid mother for five years. Mary enjoyed preparing Sunday dinners for the family featuring her famous fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren who were the light of her life.
Ten years ago, Mary moved to California after marrying her high school sweetheart, Bill Geddis. They enjoyed retirement together. Bill and Mary spent many hours on the boat, fishing for salmon.
She was president of the Altar Society at her church in Oroville. They moved back to Oklahoma City last year to be closer to her family.
Recently, she became ill and was not able to recover. We will all miss her dearly.
Mary was preceded in death by her first husband Elmer Lee Martin, her parents, and her brothers John and Jimmy Onderek.
She is survived by her husband, William Geddis; her daughter, Barbara Richart and son-in-law Don Richart; her son, Scott Martin and wife Zonda; her grandchildren, Rachel Gering and husband Rob; Emily Martin, Kattlyn Richart and Zachary Martin; great grandchildren, Jacob Ryan Richart and Sophie Joy Gering who was born this week.
She is also survived by her sister, Vi Holmes along with numerous family members and friends who will miss her very much.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010, 1:00 pm, at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, 7336 W. Britton Rd.
Private interment will be held at a later date in the Czech National Cemetery, Prague, Oklahoma.
