1914 - 2003
Emil J. Kucera, Sr., 88, of Borger, Texas, died Monday, January 27, 2003 in Golden Plains Community Hospital in Borger.He was born March 21, 1914 and was a native of Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was a longtime resident of Prague, Oklahoma and Borger, Texas.Mr. Kucera was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army.He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Methodist Men, Methodist Choir, Elks Lodge #1531 and the Masonic Lodge.He graduated from Oklahoma A&M in 1939 with a degree in Chemical Engineering.He is survived by two sons, Reiman Kucera of Borger; and E. Jerry Kucera Jr. of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Julie, Jenny and Jerry Kucera, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Gloria Kucera of Buffalo, New York.He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Kucera on March 1, 2002.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2003 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Hilda Cavazos officiating.Burial will be in Czech National Cemetery in Prague, Oklahoma 11:00 a.m. on Saturday February 1, 2003, entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors.Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 1202 Valley Dr., Borger, Texas 79007 or the Arthritis Foundation, 3001 West 5th St., Ft. Worth, Texas 76107.Services were conducted by Brown Funeral Directors, PO Box 5313, Borger, Texas 79008.
