Kenneth Steward

steward-ken

October 16, 1921 ~ June 28, 2018

Kenneth Steward was born on October 16, 1921 in Tira, Texas to King Fisher and Lara Ann (Vanderver) Steward. He passed away in Stillwater, Oklahoma on June 28, 2018 at the age of 96.

Kenneth grew up in Cooper, Texas where he rode a horse to school and had to be helped off when he arrived because he was frozen. He later proudly served in the United States Army stationed in Italy for 2 years during World War II. He spent a couple of years working for the CCC, Civilian Conservation Corps, where he was placed in Arizona building roads and working on other construction projects. Kenneth was a cattle rancher and always loved horses, farming, playing dominos and sports, especially baseball. Despite his love of farming and the outdoors he despised picking cotton. He enjoyed competition of all kinds and going out to eat.

Kenneth was a Godly man serving as deacon in the Baptist Church for many years. He was a family man who made it a priority to stay in touch with his many siblings. He loved his children, grandchildren and had a huge impact on each of their lives.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, King Fisher and Lara Ann; his wife of 72 years, Marjorie (Kitchens) Steward; son, Kenny Lee Steward; siblings, Clyde, King, Tony, Roy, Ruth and Bertha. Survivors include his daughter, Donna Kaye and husband Ron Vantine of Carney; (2) grandchildren, Craig Wensler and wife Misty, Jeffrey Wensler and wife Janelle; (4) great-grandchildren, Blaine Wensler and wife Ellen, Bailey Wensler, Jace Wensler, Jordyn Wensler; brother, Billy Van Steward and wife Lynell of Oklahoma City; along with other family and friends.

A funeral will be held for Kenneth at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2018 at the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Carney Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
