Roy Addus Mitchell

Roy Addus Mitchell was born September 20, 1928 in Rule, Texas to Roy and Dora Mae (Hayes) Mitchell. He passed away in Oklahoma City June 8, 2023 at the age of 94.

Roy served his country proudly in the United States Army for 3 years starting in 1945 following WWII. He was a military police officer and spent time in Austria and Germany. Roy was an avid gun and coin collector. He loved getting together with his family and playing dominos.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Dora Mae Mitchell; wife of 58 years, Georgia Lee Mitchell; son, Robert Roy Mitchell, daughter, Marcelene Dora Anderson; and his sister, Lucerne Knight. Survivors include his children, Linda Lee Odermatt and husband Marvin, Bennett Mitchell, Nadene Cowan and husband Scott, Marland Mitchell, son-in-law, Ronnie Anderson all of Carney; sister, Saranell Farr of Mountain View; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; along with other family and friends.

The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the funeral home. A graveside funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Carney Cemetery with Reverend Bo Gibbs officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
