She was born on March 28, 1932 in Gilmore to Henry Lewis and Lillie Belle Barker Callaway. On April 10, 1949, she married Douglas Leroy Cooper in Mena, Ark. She was a homemaker and served as a missionary with her husband for more than 20 years. They served in Navaho Indian Missions in Oklahoma and New Mexico. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.
For several years, she served as a volunteer for the Committee on Aging in Wolfe City, Texas.She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter Sonia Norene Cooper; brothers Tom and Lewis Callaway; sisters Gussie Moore, Jessie Phillips, Leeada Hitcher, Ella Carpenter, Belle Ray, Helen Ray and Evie Callaway.
Her survivors include her husband of more than 60 years; three sons Dan Cooper and wife Betty of Greenville, Texas, Charles Cooper and wife Sherry of Leonard, Texas, Anthony Cooper and wife Deborah of Farmersville, Texas; sister Ruby Thomas of Bakersfield, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives, friends and loved ones. Services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel in Greenville, Texas with Rev. C. Don Burke officiating. Interment will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Vaughn Cemetery, Gilmore.Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
