Marvin Wayne Pierce, 75, of Wister, passed away Sept. 1, 2009, at his residence in Wister.
He was born March 6, 1934, in Tucker.
He was a long time resident of the area and a member of the Summerfield Church of Christ. He taught school in New Mexico and coached football, basketball and track in Heavener School. He was also a teacher and assistant principal at Wister School and taught speech. He was a permanent substitute teacher with a total of 49 years in the school system. He was a professional rodeo announcer for many years and a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U. S. Navy.He is survived by a daughter, Tina Drury and husband Tony of Wister; two sisters, Oletha Buchanan of Owasso and Euneda Richardson of Stillwater; four grandchildren, Ryan Leatherwood of Sterling, Kan., Shawn Drury and wife Jessica of Howe; Josh Drury and wife Beccca of Taloga and Wes Fowler of Shady Point; four great-grandchildren, Kaetyn, Armani, Cecilia and Jacob; a brother-inlaw, Billy Bert Williams and wife Leona of Heavener; a niece, Rae Nita Fowler and husband James of Shady Point; numerous other relatives, friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Wister School Auditorium. Interment will be in Summerfield Cemetery.The family will be at the funeral home Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. for visitation.
