Cary Justin Carter, 50, of Spiro, Oklahoma, passed away on September 4, 2020 at his home, surrounded by family. He was born on July 21, 1970 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Robert Carter and Joyce (Myers) Carter.
 

Cary was a loving husband and father to his wife, Tracey, for 23 years and sons, Brent and Garrett. He loved his family, hunting, sports, and being a firefighter.

He served with the Fort Coffee Fire Department before establishing the Murry Spur Fire Department in 2006. He served as Fire Chief of the Murry Spur Fire Department for 14 years.
 

Cary was preceded in death by mother, Joyce Carter; mother and father-in-law, Jane and Jack Farmer; grandparents, Irene and John Myers, and Lena and Albert Carter of Spiro, Oklahoma.
 

He is survived by wife, Tracey Carter, of the home; sons, Garrett Carter, of the home and Brent Nichols, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; father, Robert Carter of Spiro, Oklahoma; brother, Eric Carter and wife, Joy of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; nephews and nieces: Cooper Carter; Scott Bartholomew and wife, Brittany; Melanie Lawson and husband, Justin; Julie Dukes and husband, Richard; Emily Fox and husband, Lindsey; C.J. Farmer and wife, Montana; Delaney Farmer; Joseph Fiori, and Alecia Fiori; great nieces and nephews: Hunter Robinson, Christian Dukes, Carson and Emma Bartholomew, Harper and Hudson Lawson, Bryleigh Heaton and Evelyn Fox and Hannah Fox, Hannah, Evan, and Claire Peters, and Brandon and Timothy Symonds,  and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
 

Cary was dedicated to his hometown and community, serving on the VFW Auxiliary, the Chamber, and coaching Little League baseball, football, and basketball. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
 

Pallbearers will be; David Crow, Jeff Carter, Shawn Howard, Dean Myers, Cody Myers, and Bradley Myers. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Murry Spur Fire Department.


Funeral Service will be 2:00pm Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Victory Worship Center in Spiro, Oklahoma with Reverend Tim Cothran, Reverend Roger Myers, and Mister Marcus Floyd officiating.

Burial will follow at Spiro City Cemetery in Spiro, Oklahoma under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Spiro.

Viewing will be 1:00pm–7:00 pm Monday, 9:00am-1:00am Tuesday at the funeral home and 12:00pm-2:00 Tuesday at the church before the funeral service.
