Sherman Anthony Goines Obit

Funeral services for Sherman Anthony Goines, age 24, of Shady Point, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, 1972, at the First Baptist Church in Shady Point. Reverend Myrle Fox and Reverend E. L. Estep officiated.
The son of Edgar and Earlene (Darneal) Goines, Cameron, he was born October 10, 1947, in Panama, LeFlore County, Oklahoma. He died on Thursday, August 17, in Shady Point. He married the former Linda Sue Bledsoe in 1964. They have one son, Mark Anthony Goines.
A 1965 graduate of Cameron High School, he attended Poteau Community College and Northeastern State College, Tahlequah, where he graduated in 197l. He was a social worker for the LeFlore County Welfare Department in Poteau, where he had been employed for about a year.
In addition to his wife, son, and parents, he is survived by four brothers: Kenneth of Fort Hood, Texas; Larry of Rock Island; Earl Wayne and Robert, both of Panama; one sister, Eddye Goines of Cameron; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Edna Darneal of Panama. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alfred Darneal, Panama.
Funeral services were conducted by Evans Funeral Home, Poteau. Burial was in Shady Point Cemetery.
