Eva Lorene Kersh, 79, of Shady Point, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001. She was born March 15, 1921 in Black Fork, Ark. Mrs. Kersh was a lifelong resident of Shady Point. She and her husband Allen ministered many Assembly of God Churches in the LeFlore County area. Her hobby was raising her family.
She was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter Alesha Breann Billy.
Survivors include her husband Allen Kersh of the home; five sons and daughters-in-law, Rufus and Agnes Kersh and Howard and Patsy Kersh, all of Poteau, Jim and Diana Kersh of Shady Point, Larry and Debra Kersh of Hugo and Wayne and Paulette Kersh of Monroe; four daughters and sons-in-law, Evalyn and Dolphus Fout and Bert and Frank Wiles all of Shady Point, Jean and Walt Garner of Altus and Dephna and Evert Stacy of Howe; 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; special caretaker and friend, Opal Toney Brown; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones; a host of beloved friends. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7 at Assembly of God Church of Shady Point with the Rev. Jim Cook and the Rev. Joe Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Point Cemetery in Shady Point under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
