Helen worked for many years as an elementary school teacher in the Oklahoma City Public Schools and retired from Coolidge Elementary. She was a member of the Church of the First Born in Cortez, Colorado. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and sewing. Helen's greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. She had a very sweet spirit and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Jack Oliver Brown; one great grandchild, Emily Brown; three sisters, Gladys Capeheart, Okla Kirkpatrick, and Audis Gwaltney; and two brothers, Desmond Hilton and C.J. Hilton.
Helen is survived by one daughter, Gwendolyn Cribbs and her husband, Michael, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; one son, Byron Brown and his wife, Cindy, of Newcastle; five grandchildren, Brandon Brown of McAlester, Dawnyelle Hyde and her husband, John, of Oklahoma City, Felicia Weatherford and her husband, Travis, of Tennessee, Laura Collins and her husband, Matt, of Georgia, and Mechelle Price and her husband, Victor, of Georgia; twelve great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister-in-law, Doris Hilton, of Missouri; and many other loved ones and friends.
Funeral service will be at 9:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard.
Burial will be at 4:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the Octavia Cemetery in Octavia, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
