Shirley Dean Weatherford, 74, of Poteau, passed away Nov. 20, 2008, in Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center, Poteau. He was a Water Superintendent (retired) of the City of Poteau. He was born Oct. 17, 1934 in Lone Pine, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Katie Weatherford; two brothers in law, Elmer Yarberry and Justin Spottedbear.
He is survived by his two step sons, Dixie Wayne Kyle and wife Deborah of Hot Springs, Ark., Charles Robert Kyle of the home; three step daughters, Aledda Marler of Poteau; Lawanna Kyle of the home; Kay Drury and husband Lynn of Poteau; two brothers, Ronald Weatherford of Fort Windgate, NM; William Weatherford of Castro Valley, Calif; nine step grandchildren, 18 step great grandchildren, and numerous friends, relatives and loved ones.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, 2 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church, Poteau, with Rev. Keith Williams and Rev. Sonny Daniels officiating. Interment at Oakland Cemetery, Poteau. Pallbearers will be the Poteau Water Department.
