Matha Ann Odom, 80, of Poteau died Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, in Fort Smith, Ark.Matha was born July 28, 1934, in Latham to John G. and Lois (Sulivant) Bowden. She was a retired secretary for the county superintendent of schools. Matha was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church. She loved to play card games (Hand and Foot). Matha was a wonderful mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother who loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She was always there when you needed her.
Survivors include her daughter and son in-law, Debbie and Mike Dunigan of Poteau; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sheryl Maggard of Wister; grandchildren, Shelly and Steve Akins of Poteau, Joe Bill and Jenni Maggard of Howe, Sky and Stephen Fruen of Poteau, Star and Justin Mudge of Bald Knob, Ark., Brad and Cecilia Maggard of Wister; seven greatgrandchildren, Jace and Piper Akins , Sydney and Syler Fruen, Lane and Willow Maggard, Jaxon Mudge; two baby girls on the way; brother, Buddy and Pat Bowden of Farmington, NM; three nieces, JoAnn Hill of Fort Smith, Teresa Horn of Farmington, N.M., Charlie Romero of Las Cruces, N.M.; nephew, David Bowden of Fort Gibson; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at Southside Baptist Church, Poteau, with the Revs. Monte Thompson and Jim Reed officiating.
Burial will be in Oakland
Cemetery .
Pallbearers will be Joe Bill and Brad Maggard, Steve and Jace
Akins , Stephen
Fruen and Justin Mudge.
Honorary pallbearers will be Syler Fruen and
Lane Maggard.
The family will be at the Evans and Miller Funeral Home from 6-8
p.m. Wednesday to visit with relatives and friends.
