Islahrea Dunn Carter, 82, of Poteau, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001. He was born Dec. 11, 1918 in Hartford. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, an artist, a very good cook, mother, grandmother and caregiver to her grandchildren. She was a member of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Toni Allen of Poteau and Abbie and Carlton Bailey of Sallisaw; one son, Floyd "Lawson" Carter Jr. and Nancy of Grapevine, Texas; one sister, Ada Marie Douglas of Fort Smith; two brothers, Walter Dunn Jr. of Spiro and Harold Dunn of Carlsbad, N.M.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18 in Oakland Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy D. Cook officiating. Services are under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
