Esther Cofer, 99, of Poteau died Wednesday, July 6, 2011, in Poteau. Esther was born Sept. 16, 1911 in Cameron to Albert and Eva Clementine (Irvin) Cox. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Poteau. Esther was a home- maker.
She was preceded in death by her par- ents; husband, Wade; sisters, Evie Leonard, Edith Garrett, and Eva Cox; and nephew, Carl.
Survivors include her sons, David A. and Miriam Cofer of Hennessey and Ron and Marsha Cofer of Poteau; daughters, Wadene and Louis Ward of Paris, Texas, Anita and Bill Barber of Poteau, and Shirley and Joe Slate of Paris; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and neph- ews. A special thanks to her caregiver, Marie Greene.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 9, at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, with The Revs. Jim Cook and Frankie Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.
