Lois Olene (Chapmond) Bess, 65, of Spiro died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. She was born in Poteau on Jan. 26, 1947, to Archie and Edris “Olene” (Davis) Chapmond.
Lois is survived by her husband, Michael T. Bess; her children and their spouses, Michael “Scooter” Bess Jr. of Dickson, Larry and Misty Bess of Tonkawa, and Richelle and Everett Plummer of Poteau; her siblings and their spouses, Wayne and Barbara Chapmond of San Antonio, Texas, Eunice Kilgore of Sayre, Randy and Angela Chapmond of Davis, and Katie Unsicker of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Joshua and Summer Cassell, Siehara and Kevin Wong, Cody Bess, Kylee Bess, Shawn Plummer, Justin Plummer, Lauren Bess; great-grandchildren, Jonah Plummer, Mya Wong, Bryer Cassell; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her father, Archie Ceaser Chapmond; mother, Edris “Olene” Flute; brother, Archie “Leon” Chapmond; and great grandson Brant Lee Cassell.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with the Rev. Jim Cook officiating.
Burial will be in Monroe Cemetery.
Grave dedication will be by John Bess.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Chapmond, Weldon Kilgore, Everett Plummer, Shawn Plummer, Josh Cassell, Justin Plummer, Cody Bess and Kevin Wong.
The family will visit with relatives and friends at Evans and Miller Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
