Bernice Evans, 85, of Poteau, passed away Nov. 5, 2008 in Specialties Select Hospital in Fort Smith, Ark. She was born March 11, 1923 in Dayton, Ohio. She was retired from the Hamlin Mfg. Company. Mrs. Evans was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Poteau.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Evans, Sr.; a son, Charles “Chuck” Evans, Jr., and granddaughters Nancy Stewart and Kimberly Caldwell.
Survivors are three daughters, Gloria Lowe of Poteau, Karen Mutz of Tacoma, Wash., Marsha Evans of Poteau; son, Thomas N. Evans of Poteau; sister Dorothy Kaylor of Dayton; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, one nephew,, Ken Kaylor; numerous friends, relatives and loved ones.
Funeral services will be Saturday, 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Poteau, with Father Valentine officiating. Interment will be at Hodgen Cemetery in Hodgen.
Pallbearers will be Lenard Mutz, Paul Jason Caldwell, David Mutz, and Charles Evans III. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday evening, Nov. 7, 2008 at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau.
