John L. Morsund, 82, of Poteau, passed away Nov. 21, 2008, in Anahuac, Texas.
He was born June 16, 1926 in Newman Grove, Neb. and was a Southern Baptist Minister, retired, auto mechanic. Bro. Morsund was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Air Corp.
He pastored many churches in LeFlore County, some of which were Oak Ridge, Stapp-Zoe, Cowlington, Albion and Liberty Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Lenora, of the home; daughters, Ruth Ann Millsaps and husband, Jerry of Anahuac, Texas, Elizabeth Morsund of Poteau; sons, Arthur Morsund and wife Keva of Clarksville, Ark., John Lee Morsund and wife Kim of Duncan; grandchildren, Joshua Millsaps and wife, Amy, Jeremy Millsaps of Juneau, Alaska, Kurt Morsund and Charlene Janway of Poteau, Johnathan Morsund and Anthony J. Morsund of Clarksville, Ark., Ryan Lewis Morsund and Sierra Morsund of Duncan; great grandchildren, Jade Amber Millsaps, Cody Lynn Millsaps, Jessica Anne Millsaps, Easton Janway. and numerous friends, relatives and loved ones.
Viewing will be Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Evans & Miller Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Wister with Rev. Clyde Steelman officiating.
Interment will be at Knothole/Fairhill Cemetery, Cameron.
Pallbearers will be Bill Bullard, Ike Caudell, Dennis Shoup, Alton Washburn, Harold Gibson, and Jerry Harmon.
