Perdue — Benjamin Elmer, son of Asa and Minnie C. Perdue, was born June 25,
1894,and departed this life at the home of his parents at Kenndy, 1. T.,
February 11, 1895. Elmer has gone to be with Him who said "Suffer little
children to come unto me, for of such is the kingdom of Heaven." He stayed
long enough here to entwine himself in the affections of his parents and
grand-parents and many other friends. So it was tearing of the heart-strings
to give him up. He was a fine, large healthy child. He was sick only a few
days when the end came, and with a bright smile on his countenance he went
home to be with Jesus. What a happy time we imagine it was when little
Elmer-and grandma met on that beautiful shore. Father and mother, be
faithful and you will meet your darling boy in the land where there is no
death or parting. A few more days on earth and you will meet little Elmer in
the sweet ‘ ‘bye and bye. ’ ’ We loved him, yes we loved him, But angels
loved him more, And they have sweetly called him To yonder’s shining shore.
The golden gates were open; A gentle voice said come, And with fareweli's
unspoken he calmly entered home. R. A. Cowan. Feb. 20, 1895.
