Obit for Darwin
Darwin D. Weidenmaier, 86, passed away Sunday, December 31st, 2006 at his home in Yukon. He was born April 3, 1920 to George and Estie Lee [Sears] Weidenmaier in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma.
He served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and participated in action against the enemy at Guadalcanal, B.S.I., from January 4, 1943 to February 19, 1943 and at Tarawa Atoll, Gilbert Islands from November 20, 1943 to December 1, 1943. After his service in the military he married Ima Jean Williams on June 13, 1945, they were happily married for sixty-one years. They lived in Mountain View for several years and was a longtime businessman and owner of Darwin's IGA. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mountain View, where he was Music Director and Sunday School Superintendent.
He is survived by two sons, Richard Dee Weidenmaier and wife Verdeana of Chickasha and Rodney Gene Weidenmaier and wife Christine of Yukon; sisters, Mary Alice Biggins of Norman, Beula Mae Harrod of Forest City, North Carolina; grandchildren, Deana Weidenmaier-Ramsey and husband Jack of Centennial, Colorado; Christa Weidenmaier Raison and husband Alan of Wichita Falls, Texas; James Weidenmaier and wife Christy of Chickasha; Maria Weidenmaier Barnes and husband Colby of Republic, Missouri; Four great-grandchildren, Avery Ramsey, Grant Barnes, Candace Demster and Rachel Demster.
In lieu of Flowers donations may be made to the Mountain View Cemetery
or the Mountain View Historical Society.
Graveside services will be held
at 1:30 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2007 at the Mountain View Cemetery in
Mountain View, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are under the direction of Yanda & Son Funeral Home, Yukon, Oklahoma.
