Obit for Shirley
Funeral services for Shirley Jean Penn, 52, Clinton,
formerly of Ada were held at 2:00 Monday, August 12, 2002 at the Sharon
Baptist Church, eight miles north of Gotebo with Pat Peters officiating.
Burial followed at the Mt. View Cemetery under the direction of the
Stanley Lee Funeral Home.
Shirley was born October 13, 1949 in Sentinel to Robert
and Dortha (Thurman) Allen and passed away early Saturday, August 10,
2002 at the Grace Living Center in Clinton.
During her early years Shirley lived in several
communities in Oklahoma with her family. They settled in Gotebo where
Shirley graduated from high school in 1967. She also attended Hills
Business College in Oklahoma City. She was married to Leslie Penn in
1970 in Beggs, OK. She worked for 30 years at the Valley View Hospital
in Ada. She had been disabled with arthritis and diabetes for the past
year.
She was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church and
enjoyed doing needlework in her spare time.
She was preceded in death by her father, and a brother
Jimmy Allen.
She is survived by her daughter, Mandi Penn, Hilton Head
Island, South Carolina; her mother, Dortha Allen of Clinton; a niece
Nikkie Dodd of Hobart; a great nephew Sy Dodd; a host of other relatives
and friends; and the Valley View Hospital family.
