The funeral service for Jimmy (Jim) Edwards, 70, of Enid, will be held today, Feb. 10, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ken Bowlin will officiate. Burial will be Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at 1 p.m. in Mountain Park Cemetery, Mountain Park, Okla.
He was born Oct. 26, 1936, in Nuyaka, Okla. to Isom and Cynthia Smith Edwards, and went home to Jesus on Feb. 8, 2007.
He attended school in Nuyaka and Rocky Hill, Okla. He served in the Army from July 1956 to June 1958. He married Louise Murdock in Okmulgee, Okla. He worked electrical high line service for 40 years. He had worked in Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana. He moved to Enid in 1998 where he bought his home and retired.
Jim enjoyed fishing, playing with the little kids and sports. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Enid.
He is survived by three children, Joyce Bowlin of Chanute, Kan., Nancy Carter of London, Ky., and Penny Snow Stonehocker of Enid, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lou Benzel of Glenpool, Okla., Ruby Terrell of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Billie Hampton of Grandview, Texas; five brothers, Carl Edwards of Bates, Ark., Jack Edwards of Harrah, Okla., David Edwards of Jacksonville, Ore., Tom Edwards of Brandon, Fla. and Roy Edwards of Chandler, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Louise (Lou) Edwards; two sons, James Gambel and Michael (Mike) Murdock; one brother, Paul Edwards; and two sisters, Dorothy Davis and Madi Morrison.
