James Warren Longfellow was born 29 March 1872 in Pawnee County,
Nebraska to John Cavel Longfellow and Sarah Lavenia (Martin) Longfellow. He died
in Hobart, Oklahoma on Monday, 20 July 1953, after a long illness. He was 81
years old.
Mr. Longfellow married Lotta (Lottie) Olive Creamer on 29 September 1890 in
Liberty, Missouri. They had one son. James and Lottie divorced on 04 June 1894.
Mr. Longfellow returned to Nebraska and married Nellie Pearl Shoup on 20 July
1898 in Pawnee City, Nebraska.
James and Nellie moved to the Oklahoma Territory before statehood in about 1906.
Mr. Longfellow was a carpenter and stone mason by trade and formally a
construction superintendent of the Granite Reformatory for 20 years.
Services for James Warren Longfellow will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Hobart
Methodist Church.
Mr. Longfellow is survived by his wife of 55 years, and children; John A.
Longfellow, Kansas City, Kansas; Marion L. Longfellow, Siloam Springs, Arkansas;
Mrs. Beulah Atherton, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Mrs. Zedda Quattlebsaum, Leedy, Oklahoma;
Donald M. Longfellow, Lawton, Oklahoma and numerous grandchildren; brother,
Homer Longfellow, Los Angeles, California, sisters Idellah Malone, Olathe,
Kansas; and Nellie Cunningham, Joplin, Missouri.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Lottie.
