Funeral services for Homer Bruce Havens, 79, of Cordell, are pending with Shaw Funeral Home of Vici. Homer passed away on June 17, 2002 in Cordell.

Homer Bruce Havens, the fourth child of George and Ruth Havens was born December 25th, 1922 in Cordell, Oklahoma and passed from this life June 17, 2002, in his home in Cordell.
Homer attended school in Cordell, but spent most of his adult life in parts of California and Arizona. Homer owned and operated his own construction business and was a professional painter of homes and businesses. Homer loved to play golf, shoot pool, watch all kinds of sports on T.V. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tease and play pranks on those he loved, especially his sisters Sybil and Billie. He loved to cook and try new recipes. He especially enjoyed his family and was a wonderful father to his children. Family was an important part of his life. Homer had moved back to Cordell a year ago to be near his family, and had fought a fight with cancer for several years. He experienced a lot of pain, but still he always had a smile and something funny to say to those he loved.

Homer is survived by six children; three daughters Ida Ruth, Cheryl and Janet and three sons, Eugene Bruce, James and Mike (James and Janet are twins); two sisters, Sybil Thiessen of Cordell and Billie Christian of Burns Flat; three sisters-in-law, May, Donna and Lucille and a number of grandchildren, one great-grandchild, neices, nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceding Homer in death were his parents, Ruth and George Havens; three wives, Frankie, Clydene, and Cordilla (Cordilla and Homer were married for 41 years); one sister, Delores (Sissy) Rice; three brothers, Hobby, Hubert, and Sonny.

Memorial grave side rights were held for Homer on Saturday, June 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rose Cemetery of Hobart, under the direction of the Shaw Funeral Home of Vici, Oklahoma.

The private family memorial services were conducted by Rev. Howard Holt of Hobart, assisted by a Pastor of Vici.

Donna Havens (Sister- in-law of the late Homer Bruce Havens) was hostess to a family dinner following the memorial service, held in her home in Hobart, a special time for the family to visit and remember Homer Bruce.
