Enid, OK — The funeral for A. B. Cain, 83, of Hennessey, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at First Christian Church, Hennessey. Ellis Weber will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey.

He was born April 26, 1926, east of Dover to Samuel G. and Nora O’Hern Cain and died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He graduated from Hennessey High School in 1943 and served in the Army during World War II. He attended Oklahoma A&M.

He married Ethel Green Turner Dec. 23, 1998, in Stillwater.

He served on the Hennessey school board from 1963 to 1973 and was instrumental in the construction of Hennessey’s high school and middle school buildings. He also was a member of Kingfisher County Cattlemen’s Association.

Surviving are his wife, Ethel; two daughters, Sharon Leewright of Wewoka and Kelly Choate of Hennessey; two sons, Ricky Cain and Terry Cain, both of Hennessey; two stepdaughters, Shirley Holliday of Houston and Beverly Bobbitt of Bakersfield, Calif.; three brothers, Stanford G. Cain of Livermore, Calif., Randall L. Cain of Hominy and Wiley E. Cain of Altus; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, one stepson, one grandson and one great-grandson.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to American Cancer Society.
