The funeral for Floyd R. Hawkins, 88, of Loyal, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at Loyal Methodist Church. The Rev. Bob Barr will officiate.

Burial will be in New Home Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by the American Legion. Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Service Inc., Kingfisher.

He was born Jan. 3, 1921, in Tipton to Jesse and Bessie Albright Hawkins and died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at Okeene Municiple Hospital. He grew up in the Loyal area and had farmed there since 1946.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Following the war, he worked at Vance Air Force Base for 46 years as an aircraft mechanic.

He married Vivian Verhines June 14, 1942. He was a member of Loyal Methodist Church, Lomega Lions Club and Kingfisher American Legion Post 5.

Surviving are his wife, Vivian, of the home in Loyal; two daughters, Carolyn Fluman of Enid and Faye Strain of Claremore; one son, William Hawkins of Loyal; one sister, Lucille Hawkins Corbett of Wichita, Kan.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, three brothers, four sisters and one grandson.

Memorials may be made to Loyal Methodist Church or Lomega Lions Club.

Vivian Irene Verhines Hawkins was born to Anna (Musselman) and Clifford Verhines, on her grandfather's farm west of Loyal. She died on Mother's Day at 95.
 
She is survived by three children, Carolyn Fluman of Edmond, Faye Strain and husband Richard of Claremore, William Hawkins and wife Connie of Loyal; and her brother, Cliff Verhines of Kingfisher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Floyd Hawkins; one daughter, Lenna Ludwig; grandson Cally Joe Ludwig; sister Lorene Hill, formerly of Ponca City; and sister-in-law Pauline Verhines, Kingfisher.

Service is 10:30 a.m. today, May 18, 2018, at Loyal United Methodist church, with burial following at New Home Cemetery, Loyal, under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.

Memorials may be made to Circle of Love Hospice, Enid.
