J.D. SEAL PASSED AWAY SATURDAY AFTERNOON
J.D. SEAL, a resident of this county for more than a quarter of a century, died at 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, at the home northeast of Hennessey, after a brief illness that began with a severe cold. His wife and eight children share his loss.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Union Chapel and interment made in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. H.L. CLOUD, pastor of the First M.E. Church, of Hennessey, officiated.
Joseph D. SEAL was born on April 20, 1838, in the State of Indiana, and was a veteran of the Civil War, serving as a member Co. D, 11th Infantry. On December 26, 1863, he was married to Nancy E. McCALL. Thirteen children came to bless their union, of which eight survive. Six were in attendance at the funeral, Benjamin, Thomas, David, and Daniel SEAL, and Mrs. Maggie CALHOUN and Mrs. Hettie HAWK. He was a loving father and husband, and a loyal neighbor. He united with the M.E. Church in early life.
Mr. SEALS came to Oklahoma about thirty-one years ago, locating near the Village of Cashion in the south part of this county, where he made his home for eighteen years. He moved to this vicinity in 1909.
