Opal Herrin Hawk was born May 18, 1916 to Irvin and Ada Hawk in Bison Oklahoma and passed away September 29, 1999 in an Enid hospital.
 
She married Earl Daniel Hawk on July 4, 1937 in Hennessey. He passed away May 24, 1973.
 
She is survived by two sons, Frederick of Hennessey and James of Oklahoma City; a brother Lloyd Herrin and 2 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl and a son.
 
She was buried in Lyon Valley Cemetery in Hennessey.

Hennessey – the funeral for Opal Hawk, 83, will be 2 PM Friday at Union Chapel Church, Billy Joe Kious and John Harold Edwards.

Burial will be in Lyon Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cordry – Gritz Funeral Home.

She was born May 18, 1916, in Bison to Irvin and Ada Hayes Herrin and died Tuesday, September 28, 1999 at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.

On July 4, 1937, she married Earl Daniel Hawk in Hennessey. She taught school during World War I I and was a member of Union Chapel Christian Union Church. She taught Sunday school classes from beginners to adults for many years. She also served as church pianist. She was active in Teen Mission International for seven years and worked with more than 250 teens in Guatemala, France, England and Scotland. She served as Hennessey school cafeteria manager for 18 years and was both an employee and volunteer at Hennessy Care Center.

Surviving are two sons, Frederick of Hennessey and James of Oklahoma City; one brother, Lloyd Herrin; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one son.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Teen Missions International or to American Heart Association.
